The Iowa Great Lakes is a marvelous place. It is stimulating to drive or boat in and around the lakes. There are 22 lakes in Dickinson County so your choices to view the wonders of God are endless. Early in my life, it was a family tradition to hop into our car on Sunday afternoon and travel and view the lakes. We still do the same and are never disappointed. Although there are electric lines, poles, and bridges along any route around the lakes, the brain magically erases them from view.
The book is about the history of the area called Okoboji. Assembling the information and research for this book was possible because the local newspapers, Okoboji Protective Association annual publication, personal interviews, photos from the Maritime Museum and the Dickinson County Museum. This is my 8th book about the Iowa Great Lakes of personal experiences and recollections.
The book “Over the Waterways at the Iowa Great Lakes” is about resorts, people, state parks, explorations, pioneering, bridges, and roads. Bridges are used as an introduction to all of the preceding items. I hope you will enjoy my latest endeavor. Aubrey LaFoy
